Let Them Eat
Benjamin Bennett-Carpenter

No matter the flame. Prepare the syrup pour. There’s something else going on here. And here. There’s always something. And something is always something else. Would that we wouldn’t have it any other way. Nine regrets before breakfast. Regrets s'il vous plait. Because we need a count for the dinner service later. They’ll be holding their drinks so then how do they hold their plates and eat at the same time without spilling something? I guess people will set something down. It’ll be fine. And there’s no rush. There’s plenty of time scheduled for everything, so no worries. We’ve been preparing all week, not to mention a lifetime. He was such a gentleman. You knew him. You know how he was. You know how he combed his hair back and always looks so dapper. Dapper but not Dan.
